New Haven Wells Westminster chime mantel clock, circa
1920
This New Haven 8-day Westminster chime mantel clock has a patent date of 1929 and
was probably made around that time. The case is a style that was popular in the
1930's. The brass movement is distinctive by it's three-plate design. The
movement is well made but rather complicated and some fine it challenging to
service. The chime rods and hammer set are separate from the movement and connected
by thin spring steel strips. The clock has a very pleasant sounding melody.
