This is nice E. N. Welch 'beehive' - sometimes called 'round
Gothic' - shelf clock. I have been unable to identify the model or exact date
but it is similar to others from around 1870. It has a nearly complete blue label
with a paste on which most likely represents a jeweler who serviced it at some
time. There is some paint loss from the tablet. The door latch knob was missing and
replaced during service in 2016. The brass movement has the old style wrought iron
springs that still function. The movement required typical bushing work and pinion
repair and was returned to the owner in good working order.
