New Haven Shelley 8-Day Westminster Chime Clock, circa
1920's
I have found very little information on this little shelf clock other than that it
is the Shelley made by New Haven Clock. Co. It has a 4-hammer version of the
New Haven 3-plate chime movement. These movements are quite unlike any other and
can be a challenge for the uninitiated, but once setup correctly they can be quite
reliable. New Haven made several variations of this movement with many dating from
the late 1920's. I would like to hear from anyone who may have more information
on this clock. The clock arrived in the shop only needing a minor adjustment. It
was adjusted, oiled and returned in running order.
