F. Kroeber Cabinet Clock, circa 1868
This is an early 8-day time and strike cabinet clock with alarm, made by Florenz
Friederick Martin Kroeber, New York, circa 1868. This lovely little clock is almost
totally enclosed by the case. Access is gained to the pendulum for adjustment
through a small removable panel "guarded" by a "wild beast". I
believe the clock is almost completely original except perhaps the escapement verge
which may have originally been a half-deadbeat. The clock ran OK as is and was
serviced and left the way it was found as it apparently had run fine this way for a
long time.
