Held Reproduction Verge and Foliot Clock, circa modern.
This is one of numerous modern reproductions of an early verge escapement and foliot balance clock. Clocks typically used similar mechanisms around 1400 ad. to 1600 ad. There is only one hand and the clock is weight powered - in this case by a small stone. Time keeping accuracy was poor for the original clocks and not much better for the modern reproductions. On a good day it won't be off by more than an hour. Not a practical time keeper, but it is facinating to watch.
This example was made in Germany, probably late 20th century. I acquired it at an estate auction. No additional information is available.
