Elias Ingraham Doric 30-hr. shelf clock, circa 1860's.
This is a 30-hour Doric shelf clock made by Elias Ingraham, probably in the early 1860's. Tha patent date stamped on the brass bezel is 1859. The clock has a breaa spring powered movement and strikes on the hour. I believe the Doric was also made in and 8-day version, and was available with or without an alarm. The Doric was apparently produced for several years and is a popular clock with collectors.
The face shown is believed to be the original and was "recovered" from beneath a later replacement face that had been glued over the original. The finish is probably an older restoration and is very nice. The label is in very poor condition and only parts of it can be read. The movement has just been reconditioned and is running great. The hands and pendulum bob are old and could be original. An old key was with the clock, which was acquired from a local estate auction, but it is either very badly worn or the wrong size. I believe that someone has previously removed the background from the tablet inorder to expose the pendulum. I may try to correct this at some later date.
