This is an 8-day time and strike mantel clock with a brass movement. Strikes the hour and the half on a coiled gong. The clock has a 5 inch dia. face and is 18 inches wide by 11 inches tall. Painted dial on metal pan. Acquired from a local estate auction in June 2007. Style and construction suggest that this clock is probably from the early 1900's (1910-1930).
Clock has just been cleaned and bushings installed as needed. Springs appear to be recent replacements. Hands were reblued [cold process]. The original label is complete. Face has had some minor touchup and shows normal wear. Solid wood case has a small crack that has been filled. Finish is good with some minor blemishes. Bezel hinge has been previously soldered and may or may not be original. An old double ended brass key was with the clock.
