E. Ingraham Stratford mantel clock, circa 1929
Made by the E. Ingraham Co. Bristol Ct. The movement is stamped 3 29, which
I believe is March 1929. The clock has an 8-day spring powered brass movement with
half-deadbeat escapement. It strikes the hour and the half on a coiled gong. The
case is all wood with some fake marble decoration. The movement is a bit unusual in
that the pendulum is on the front side of the movement directly behind the dial.
The hands and dial must be removed to adjust the escapement.
This clock was made toward the end of the windup mechanical clock era and more
modern construction is evident, including many stamped steel parts in the strike
mechanism. The clock belongs to a family member.
