Seth Thomas Helmsman ship's bells mantel clock, circa 1930's.
Cute little 8-day nautical mantel clock. Sounds ship's watch bells every half
hour. Nice Seth Thomas 115-C USA movement with 7 jewel platform escapement with compensated balance wheel. The movement has a patent date 1921 but the 115 series ships bells movements show up in morer recent clocks. 4½ inch
silvered dial. Clock base is 13½ inches wide.
Clock is shown here "as received" from a local estate auction. The
ship's wheel has damage, the face is a bit distressed (both hands are there),
and the glass door does not stay closed. There is no visible damage inside and I
believe that everything is original. Clock is running and striking but the movement
needs to be properly cleaned and regulated. A nice restoration project. Includes
original key.
