Seth Thomas 8-day 10 inch drop trunk octagon schoolhouse clock, circa
1920s
8-day time only drop trunk octagon "schoolhouse" clock. I can find no
model name other than "Drop Octagon 10 inch". Nice oak case has
top hinged pendulum door and appears to retain its original finish. Seth Thomas
made a number of similar models from around 1890 on into the 1920s, some, like this
example, had Arabic numbers. The clock has a Seth Thomas No. 41-AE movement with
half-deadbeat escapement and a functioning "stop work". Stamped "ST
Made in USA". The label is missing, the glass is a replacement, and the
original dial pan had been recently repainted. The clock was purchased on eBay for
the Town of Trappe, Inc. and after being serviced was hung in City Hall in
2009.
Not for sale
