Meiji medium drop trunk octagon
regulator, circa 1910
Japanese medium drop trunk octagon (school house) regulator . No label, good lettering on lower door. The movement has the stamp of the Meiji Clock Co. The logo on the dial has not been identified. The clock may be a Meija or possibly a Seikosha or some other with a Meiji (my-gee) movement. I cannot be sure this movement is original to this clock. Pendulum is appropriate and may be original. Movement was running as received but had significant pivot hole wear and some earlier repairs noticed. The movement was cleaned and twenty bushings installed and other repairs made as needed. The clock is now a strong runner.
The door and bezel hinges
and latches all work. The finish looks OK but has some imperfections and signs of age. The paper dial is "fair to midlin" and will be touched up some before the clock is offered for sale. Nice clock this age and the rebuilt movement should have a long life left. Pictures show the movement after and before restoration. The case is pretty much "as found" except for some cleaning.
This clock will be priced for sale after final detailing and testing.
