Kieninger & Obergfell Kundo anniversary clock, circa 1953
Clock is about 12 inches tall to the top of the dome. The face is a little over
3½ inches in diameter. The brass movement cleaned up nicely and is now clean
and bright. This is a 400-day "anniversary" clock. The back plate matches
Plate 1004 in Horolover 400 Day Clock Repair Guide, 10th Edition, by Charles
Terwilliger. The plate is labeled "Kieninger & Obergfell, AMC, Made in
West Germany". The information given for this plate indicates a manufacture
date of 1953. In general appearance and design this clock is very similar to the
1976 Kundo shown in the "just passing through" section below except this
clock has a glass dome, brass suspension spring cover and an all metal base. The
base has three adjustable leveling feet that work properly. Everything looks
original to me, but the original key is missing.
This clock was a gift from a friend. It had not run for many years and was very
much in need of service. After cleaning and oiling, and a few adjustments, the
clock is now running and looking fine
