Jinmei Quartz Locomotive Alarm, circa 1991.
Although not a true "clock" because it does not strike the hour, this is
one of the most modern "time pieces in this collection. Battery powered
quartz movement. Makes "train sounds" and yells "wake up" at
the designated alarm time. This time piece was recieved as a gift from a family
member, and therein lies its primary value.
At 25+ years old (in 2016), one might consider this almost a "modern
antique". Unlike some of the other grand old clocks in this collection, most
of these mass-produced plastic creations only survive a few years before they fall
apart or are simply discarded. While they last, they are excellent time keepers. If
any survive for a hundred years, they will be valuable collector items. This time
piece was made in 1991 and ran reliably until 2008 when it "gave up the
ghost". I have moved it to the current projects section until I locate
a replacement movement and find time to restore this little novelty clock.
