Cherub Clock with Haramachi Seiki movement, circa modern
This is a nice little china cherub alarm clock. The time only alarm movement by
Haramachi Seiki, Japan, has a simple pin-pallet escapement with balance wheel. I
don't usually collect small modern pieces like this, but it was in a
"table lot" at a local auction and looked like it wanted a home. After a
cleaning, it now runs just fine. This is a rather amazing little
movement.......amazing that it would even stay together and run at all! It's
held together with twist tabs and clips and was obviously made at minimal expense,
yet the critical parts are decently formed and it runs strong. It's kind of
cute so I'll let it stay around for a while.
SOLD on eBay® 2009 for $0.99
