Vintage Dutch Boy Windmill Clock - Unknown maker, circa 1930.

A cute little Dutch windmill electric clock, made in USA. I can find no makers name on it. The windmill blades spin when the clock runs. The type of electric movement suggests that it was made around 1930, give or take a bit. Clock has a painted metal face and is about 7½ x 9 inches. 110 volt AC 60 cycle (Hz) power. This is an interesting clock in that, like many early electric clocks, it is not a self-starter. You spin a little "start knob" on the back, or in this case it's easier to just spin the little wind mill counter clockwise, to start the clock. If the power goes off, even briefly, these clocks stop and must be restarted manually. Also, if you start them backward they will continue to run backward, which could prove interesting under the right circumstances.

The face is in exceptional condition for it's age (see picture). The hands are not original. The clock has been completely rewired. The cord is a new cloth covered reproduction of the type of cord that was most likely used when the clock was made. The plug is a vintage bakelite plug that is in good condition. A new rubber grommet was installed where the cord enters the case. The clock is about 75 years old; the movement was oiled but not rebuilt (except for the wiring). It seems to be running and keeping good time right now.
