E. Ingraham & Co. Cosmo Mantel Clock, circa 1925
This is nice little E. Ingraham & Co. Tambour style clock named "Cosmo",
circa 1925. The movement in the clock is dated July, 1925 and is believed to be original. Natural wood case (no veneer) and a silvered dial with black numerals
which shows typical wear. The 8 day brass movement strikes hours and half hours on
a cathedral gong. The movement is typical Ingraham with a half-deadbeat escapement
and flat stamped steel control and strike levers, which were common during this
time period.
When this little clock arrive for repair, a close inspection revealed a cracked
cannon pinion (gear). This is a fairly common problem with some Ingraham and
Gilbert clocks from this time period. Repair or replacement of the damaged part can
be costly. The damaged pinion was replaced and the clock was restored to good
health.
