minute hand.

New Haven Clock Co. Columbia 30-day wall regulator, circa
1911
New Haven Clock Co. Columbia wall regulator believed to have been made
around 1911. The case is oak with glass side panels and a full glass door. The back
appears to be poplar. All the glass is old and wavy and probably original. A brass
door latch secures the door and is opened with the winding key. The clock just a
tad over 4-feet tall. There is a figural decoration on the pediment which appears
to have been cast in lead or zinc. The movement is a New Haven double wind (two
main spring) time only 30-day movement with seconds bit. The large zinc and brass
pendulum is fairly light weight and has a wood stick. There is a large silvered
beat scale and a partial label on the back identifying the maker as New
Have--.
When the clock arrived it was covered with an awful varnish that had been
carelessly applied without cleaning the case or removing the glasses and hardware.
The beat scale was devoid of any numbers, and the dial was in distress as shown in
the last picture. The movement was stiff with dried up oil and dirt but was
otherwise in decent condition for its age. The case was disassembled and refinished
and the movement was cleaned and serviced. The face and beat scale were restored by
The Dial House. The clock is a strong steady running time piece.
